Incidents

All incidents / accidents which occur within the common areas of the mall need to be reported to Security immediately and an incident report form completed by the parties involved. Accidents, which occur in a specific store, are the responsibility of that store, and should still be reported to Centre Management as soon as practical.

In designing the security procedures for Winston Hills Mall, it has been the objective to provide a safe and secure environment for your staff and your customers. Winston Hills Mall has installed security cameras with a 24-hour monitoring system. The centre is locked and alarmed after hours. In addition to this, Security Guards patrol the centre during trading hours and the security number is monitored 24/7.

Lost Children

If a lost child is brought to your attention, immediately contact Security on 0438 387 822 or alternatively, Centre Management on 9838 7822.

Once notified, Security will attempt to locate either the lost child or guardian.

Remember, prompt and accurate communication is important!

If you discover a lost child:

  • Act quickly and do not ignore them. Reassure the child that they are ok and help is on the way.

  • Ask if they have a meeting point where they have agreed to meet their parents or carer.

  • Do not take the child away from where you found them. There's a good chance their parents will come back to the same place. This also protects you and the child from any misunderstandings.

  • Do they know any phone numbers? this could be their parents, carers or grandparents. If they do, give them a call and explain what has happened.

  • Contact Centre Management or Security immediately. 0438 387 822 or 9838 7822.


Accidents

Accidents are frequent in major centres so it is essential that we work together to minimise them and the possibility of legal action where the costs of claims are borne by all retailers.

Everyone at Winston Hills Mall should be aware and alert. 

Be on the lookout for risks to the public and eliminate the risk where possible. 

What to do should an accident occur in the mall area resulting in injury:

  • Notify Centre Management immediately on 9838 7822.

  • If the injured person is still mobile and coherent, provide whatever assistance or first aid is available.

  • If the injured person, especially in a fall, is immobile, unsteady and incoherent, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MOVE THEM. Call Centre Management and ask them to call the ambulance.  Make sure the injured person is comfortable and provide whatever assistance you can.

  • If the person is unconscious, check that their airway is clear, that they are breathing and have circulation.

  • If the person is conscious, console them and reassure them that they will be all right and that help is on the way.

Should you ever need to call an ambulance, give the emergency operator the below directions and advise Centre Management or Security immediately, they will coordinate parking and communications.

Please familiarise yourself with the requirements for First Aid Kits in your individual premises. The type of kit required depends upon the number of staff members.

Centre Management has a first aid kit, defibrillator kit and wheelchairs on hand for use in the event of a medical incident. 

Please notify Security or Centre Management promptly for assistance in the case of a medical incident.

NB: The centre’s security staff are all trained in First Aid Officers.
